Lighting & Rendering Game Trailer

All of these pictures are of our scene with physical sun and sky applied. This is a progression of how I messed with the settings and how I got to our final render setting. Physical sun in sky is a setting in mental ray that creates an environment with the lighting that uses many different color correction settings that can create a very realistic environment.

Getting all of the settings to work correctly with the environment was quite difficult because either the scene would be too exposed and blown out or it would be way too saturated and dark.

Also, messing with the shadows was really strange because whenever I would turn the multiplier of the sky up, or if I would change the gamma, the shadows would become extremely contrasted and would become over powering.

The reason why the character's skin is red is because that is what the pre-render of the miss-fastskin-shader looks like in the viewport. But in the rendered view through Mental Ray it gives the skin a life-like appearance,

This is a render of our main scene with all of the Mental Ray Physical Sun and Sky settings correct. It took me a while to decipher what color profile to render in because I didn't know what color space Targas existed in. So with some research and trial and error, I found that using sRGB with Targas produced the best rendered product.
This a final render of when Jason is about to jump into the portal.
